Blurred Lines

Rainy day at the villa

This picture looks rather gloomy, but in actuality a rainy day on Wednesday was a glorious retreat time.  The break from glorious blue skies and non-stop activity gave my brain a day of recuperation.  All of my synapses are on overload so a few hours respite has not been enough to sort through all events much less make a grand meaning of them all.  This will be a series of moments which stand out this past week.

Rebalancing

Heart of the villa

It’s Sunday, but it doesn’t feel like it.  Last week was rainy and totally free – perfect for turning inward.  This week we have had classes all day and it is downright gorgeous outside.  There is a festival going on just outside the villa, so the noise is reverberating around the valley – preventing that most sacred of customs, the Sunday nap.  The classes have been a continuation of challenging our perspectives, literally and figuratively.  I’m going to expand on that as I listen to the water soothing and smoothing the atmosphere in my body and soul. Sunday musings

First water color sketch

What a perfect Sunday.  I woke to hazy sunshine which morphed to clouds during the time it took to shower and cleanse my being.  Now it is raining very quietly over the villa and the valley.  Quiet, slow, and soothing – the best way to do sabbath.

Tuscan Sun

lunch under the Sienese Sun

We have been blessed so far with amazing weather.  Every day has been clear blue – highs in the upper 70’s and in the morning it is in the 50’s.  Now that the mosquito has descended into the lower depths of wherever he shall spend eternity, I am sleeping well.  Perhaps the ending of jet lag has more to do with that blessedness than the demise of the bug.  No matter what, it is lovely to awaken refreshed and looking out to the gentle blue of the Pistoian valley from my window.  After breakfast, the bell rings loudly reverberating thoughout the villa calling us to another day of travel and/or classes.
