Preparing has been my focus for the past few weeks. It’s not easy to plan for four months at a time. Normally I am lucky to look a week out on my calendar. It occured to me this morning as I looked at the word prepare, it literally means (pre) before (pare) cutting or trimming.
My whole life has been preparation for each and every day. Everything accumulates so I can jettison what isn’t necessary. By amassing information I can choose what makes up my wisdom. Pieces of stuff are sifted into beauty. Sums of relationships settle out into a sense of self and connection to humanity.
All this time I thought preparing was about lists, organization, and tasks. Turns out it is about gathering life experiences. Those allow me to have multiple options to choose from as I make my life this day. To choose my best life it is a good thing to have lived a full life all along. How lovely to realize living life to the utmost is what makes me pre-pared for this moment.
