Creativity

What have you created today?

ItFeatured image is Monday morning.  The sun is blocked behind clouds, but the ambient light is growing stronger so I know the world is continuing on its course as set forth in the creation.  So my life seems right now.  It is the beginning of the week and the date book is clear for the next few days.  It is time to make order out of the chaos surrounding me in my home.  I feel moved to clean out corners, wipe up dust, and catch up on correspondence.  I feel moved to finally start a daily blog of creativity.  I feel moved to start peeking through the door that is opening.

For me the best definition of creativity is taking something that is and rearranging it into something that could be.  Paint, brush, and canvas become a painting.  Notes, paper, and instrument become music.  Ideas, math, and material become product.  This weekend I took ingredients, recipe, and tools which became a meal to share with friends.  Each of us is creative every day.  We just don’t recognize what we call into existence.  There is nothing we perceive as miraculous as Creation.  I notice I am using the word “we.”  Substitute “I” – I don’t recognize what I call into existence.  It is easier to see and affirm what other people do as important and creative than to accept our own actions as a perpetuation of God’s initial action of creation.

I am going to watch my day unfold with eyes searching for signs of creation.
